Easy Spaghetti

Here’s another one of those comforting and easy recipes inspired by my mom’s homemade spaghetti! I love this recipe because it is easy and quick. I’m always surprised when I make it how quickly it’s ready. I also usually have the ingredients on hand. Here’s what you will need:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large cans (29 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 package McCormick spaghetti mix
  • 1/3 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 package Spaghetti noodles
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef (drain any excess grease). Add the chopped onions and let cook until the meat is all the way browned and the onions are fragrant.
  2. Now add the cans of tomato sauce and stir. Let the mixture heat up on medium heat.
  3. Now add the seasonings: the spaghetti mix, garlic salt, oregano, basil, and salt and pepper. Stir well and cover. Turn the heat to medium-low and let simmer.
  4. While the sauce cooks, boil the spaghetti noodles in a pot of water until soft. Drain the water and save the noodles and set aside.
  5. Once the sauce is bubbling, take it off the heat and serve on the noodles.

Tips:

  • If you like a chunkier sauce, you can use 1 can tomato sauce and 1 can diced tomatoes.
  • The seasonings are just an estimate- you can add more or less if you like that taste better.
  • This is a great recipe for feeding a crowd. Just double the recipe!
  • Serve with garlic bread, green salad, or as my mom always did, peas.
