Here’s another one of those comforting and easy recipes inspired by my mom’s homemade spaghetti! I love this recipe because it is easy and quick. I’m always surprised when I make it how quickly it’s ready. I also usually have the ingredients on hand. Here’s what you will need:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large cans (29 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 package McCormick spaghetti mix
- 1/3 cup onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 package Spaghetti noodles
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef (drain any excess grease). Add the chopped onions and let cook until the meat is all the way browned and the onions are fragrant.
- Now add the cans of tomato sauce and stir. Let the mixture heat up on medium heat.
- Now add the seasonings: the spaghetti mix, garlic salt, oregano, basil, and salt and pepper. Stir well and cover. Turn the heat to medium-low and let simmer.
- While the sauce cooks, boil the spaghetti noodles in a pot of water until soft. Drain the water and save the noodles and set aside.
- Once the sauce is bubbling, take it off the heat and serve on the noodles.
Tips:
- If you like a chunkier sauce, you can use 1 can tomato sauce and 1 can diced tomatoes.
- The seasonings are just an estimate- you can add more or less if you like that taste better.
- This is a great recipe for feeding a crowd. Just double the recipe!
- Serve with garlic bread, green salad, or as my mom always did, peas.
